AN APPEAL

Dear Fellow Mitians and Well-wishers,

Our Alma matter ‘MIT’ is an inseparable part of all Mitians and the desire to foster the friendships and comaraderie is symbolised by the various chapters of ‘MIT Alumni Association’ including the parent chapter in Chennai.

MIT Alumni Association (MITAA), Bangalore chapter is one of the active chapters. Time and again, the need for a permanent place from which the chapter can function to carry out its various activities has been keenly felt. To fulfil this basic need, recently the Association has leased a permanent location in Bangalore in the Aeronautical Society of India building in Bangalore at a one-time cost of Rs. 3,00,000. This amount was paid out of the reserves of the Association. This acquisition provides our Association, access to all the facilities in the building like conference rooms, Auditorium, and use of the lawns for the activities of the Association. The members of our chapter have free access to some of these facilities for furthering their activities. Apart from the one time cost, there will be recurring maintenance charges, which has to be paid by the Association. These charges are estimated to be Rs. 1500 per month.

With the existing resources, it is very difficult to meet this recurring expenses, since the interest rates on deposits have gone down considerably and the Executive Committee does not want to eat into the reserves to meet this recurring expenditure.

With this background it is proposed to raise a separate "Building maintenance Fund" to the extent of Rs. 2,50,000 in short term. This amount if deposited in a F.D in a bank would provide for the recurring charges of maintenance.

The Executive Committee of MITAA, Bangalore Chapter appeals to all the Mitians and well wishers to contribute to this fund liberally and speedily. The fund will get closed as soon as the targeted amount of Rs.2,50,000 is reached. The contributions made to this fund will be acknowledged and the Donors names will be inscribed and displayed at the premises and published in our News letter and also in our Website " www.mitaa-bc.org "
